Hello, dear history buffs! We are very happy to introduce our website and, of course, ourselves to you. You might be wondering why we decided to dedicate a whole website to the history of California, so we decided to answer this question, along with others you might have, in this section.

Who Are We

Let’s begin by saying that we are not in fact from California. We certainly wish that wasn’t true, because we could only imagine what it would have been to grow up in the sunshine and to surf all day. Yes, we do this now as we live here, but we also have jobs!

So, about us. We are a group of friends who met while studying at college. That college was, of course, in California. We couldn’t get enough of this state and we simply loved the Californian lifestyle. However, we decided to travel around the state in order to get a better perspective of it.

Why We Made This Website

Once we left the big urban centers, we found ourselves in the beautiful countryside and we discovered so many places that we felt we should know more about. Colonial buildings, ghost towns, abandoned mansions. There was literally everything!

Although we all knew general American history, we were bummed about the fact that we didn’t know enough about California. And thus, we decided to learn every bit of its history, so we can better appreciate all these gorgeous buildings and monuments left by generations of various Californians.

We used this knowledge to plan our next road trips around the state, but we also felt that we had to share it with somebody. This is basically why we created this website. We believe that the history of California is so unique and fascinating that it would be pleasure for anyone to explore it. Not only that, but just as did with us, it would better help tourists navigate the third biggest state in the union.

We managed to summarize the long history of California in a few sections, but we intend to make this historical account more detailed with time. It doesn’t take long to briefly explain a topic, but it takes forever to actually understand the nuances and to bring them about on the page.

Apart from telling you how California was created and how it became the paradise that it is today, we will also recommend museums and other places of importance for your next trip to the Golden State. This list is also expected to grow with time as we ourselves get to visit more places.
